RICH TAVOSO

Founder and Chairman

A monumental figure in the national wrestling community and longtime collaborator with Beat The Streets, Rich Tavoso began efforts to replicate BTS's nationwide success with a Newark chapter in 2022. A longtime New Jersey resident and wrestling coach, Rich currently serves as Team Leader for the USA Wrestling National Team. After graduating from Princeton University as a member of the wrestling team in 1987, Rich had a long and successful Wall Street career culminating in his stint as Managing Director of Capital Markets for RBC.

Harry Turner

Executive Director

Harry Turner joined Beat The Streets Newark as Executive Director after ten years spent as a collegiate wrestling coach; most recently at Division III New Jersey City University where he was the first head coach in the newly founded program's history. His other coaching stops included Lock Haven University, University at Buffalo, and Rutgers University. Coach Turner earned his bachelor's degree from Lock Haven, where he was a four year starter at 197 lbs and heavyweight for the Bald Eagles. He subsequently earned his MBA from NJCU during his time as head coach. Turner currently serves as Assistant Athletic Director and Head Wrestling Coach at St. Benedict's Prep in Newark.

Jake Gunning

Head of Wrestling Development

A standout wrestler at The University at Buffalo, Jake Gunning joins Beat The Streets Newark after several years spent as an assistant coach at New Jersey City University. A PIAA state place winner in high school, Gunning was a mainstay at heavyweight for the University at Buffalo Bulls, finishing his career as a two-time Mid America Conference champion and three-time NCAA DI National Qualifier. Graduating from UB with both his bachelors and masters degrees, Jake currently serves as Director of Land Acquisitions (Northern NJ/ Southern NY) for Lennar.
